My weekend road trip included another visit to Evergreen Brickworks. It’s an oasis of tranquility, green space and artistic energy right in the heart of Toronto, with a year-round Farmer’s Market that’s always worth the trek. I like to do the market rounds, munching and sipping along the way, then beeline it straight to my favourite outdoor spot — the kids’ area. The remaining foundry smoke stack is there, with an open fire pit at its base that always has a pot of soup bubbling. And this winter’s exciting addition? A yurt! The door of which was carefully guarded by children to keep adults exactly where they belonged — firmly on the outside.
If you’re local and you’ve never been, hop on the free shuttle bus and get on down there! And if you’re from out-of-town, looking for a unique day trip, this is an absolute gem.
